Have you ever wondered what are these thin lines at the rear window of a car?

Most people think that it's just some kind of design and it is mostly found in luxury cars

These lines are not for show but fulfill a fundamental purpose. During wintery conditions, one can find it difficult to see through the rear window. These lines are called as "defoggers" 

These strips comprise metal and when the driver is unable to see what's behind, through the rear window during cold climate the defogger lines are turned on and the rear windows gets defogged within minutes

This lines channels nominal electrical currents that emit a sufficient amount of heat, dissipating any foggy or misty residue and giving the driver a much clearer view of the posterior in the process
