Pendrive
Whenever you buy a pen drive of any size, you get less storage than what is shown or advertised. Have you ever wondered why do we get less storage than what is shown?
Bytes
In general, the storage is measured in the following manner s given below. This system is also used by computers. There are extra 24 bytes which makes calculation harder.
8 bit = 1 byte
1024 Byte = 1 KB
1024 KB = 1 MB
1024 MB = 1 GB
Companies
For companies, the storage is measured in the following manner as given below. This system is used by companies that make storage devices. They exclude extra 24 bytes for simplifying their calculations.
8 bit = 1 byte
1000 Byte = 1 KB
1000 KB = 1 MB
1000 MB = 1 GB
Logic
When we insert the pen drive in pc, the computer has a different system and the pen drive has a different system. The storage device companies don't provide extra 24 bytes and that is why there is a difference.
